Those wishing to participate as members of the GBSC must be actively engaged in the material supply, production or testing of automotive, truck and commercial vehicle components used in the manufacture of brake pad and brake shoe assemblies OR member of legislative/governing body engaged in the promotion of safety in the automotive industry.

ANDERSON PONTALTI

MANAGING DIRECTOR

As the managing director of Fras-le Brazil, Anderson has the responsibility of maintaining Fras-Le’s leadership in the manufacture and supply of friction products throughout its global footprint. Rising through a series of positions within Fras-Le, Anderson has focused on operational excellence in helping to build the Fras-Le reputation for excellence.

WHY I AM IN THE GBSC

I will work to build an understanding within our industry that the cost of poor quality is greater that the implementation of the standards and technologies that will ensure our industry meets the state of the art for product safety

CESAR FERREIRA

CHIEF ENGINEER

Cesar Ferreira brings 20 years of history in the development of foundation brake systems, originally within Mercedes Benz’s Commercial Vehicle group, and more recently as the Chief Engineer for all of friction and foundation offerings from Fras-Le.  Cesar has been hands on in design and development of brake system solutions throughout his career, including the original implementation of anti-lock brake technologies for Commercial Vehicles, and is now responsible for development of Fras-Le’s friction solutions world-wide.

WHY I AM IN THE GBSC

I plan to develop and participate within a series of dialogues between our members that will help define the brake friction technologies we need to increase the safe performance of our industry’s products.

CHUCK GREENING

PRESIDENT AND CEO

Chuck Greening is president of Greening Associates, Inc./Greening Testing Laboratories, Inc., an independent testing facility and test system manufacturing and consulting firm. Chuck has over 35 years testing experience in the areas of brakes, transmissions, and friction materials.

WHY I AM IN THE GBSC

When it comes to brakes, safety is paramount. I am interested in developing objective, vehicle relevant standards for replacement brake components, assuring the end-user that the service parts installed on their car or truck meet minimum performance requirements in keeping with those demanded of the original vehicle manufacturer.

ERIC ROSZMAN

VICE PRESIDENT

Eric Roszman is the Vice President of R&D North America for Akebono, part of the Akebono Brake Company Ltd. Having been part of the Akebono team for 20 years, Eric has hands-on experience in the end-to-end development of entire brake systems for Akebono’s OE partners, as well as leading Akebono’s N.A. Foundation Brake and Friction Development teams.

WHY I AM IN THE GBSC

To influence both manufacturers and regulators in establishing basic levels of performance for brake products via the identification of existing product shortcomings, preventing the potential compromise of brake function and safety.

IAN B. CURRINS

ENGINEER

11 years work experience in brake pad and caliper engineering, specially focusing on brake pad production process, formulation and raw material development, brake pad and caliper validation.

To raise global awareness of the importance of brake safety and access suitable testing criteria is used and followed.

IAN FEATHERSTONE

DIRECTOR OF RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

Ian’s long history of accomplishments in the brake industry cover the entire range of automotive brake products and assignments in both Europe and North American, beginning with Commercial Vehicle applications in Great Britain. Today, as the Director for Research and Development for TMD AM, he oversees the ongoing evolution of TMD’s global portfolio of Aftermarket brake products, with the responsibility of developing products that meet the demanding levels of performance and safety needed for success in all of TMD’s world-wide markets.

WHY I AM IN THE GBSC

In a constantly evolving automotive market it is our job as friction experts to give end users products which meet the highest standards of safety and environmental regulations. We should strive to drive those standards/regulations upwards to deter products reaching end users, which are not fit for purpose or worse still, are a danger to the general road going public. It should be our aim/duty as industry leaders to insist on legislation that promotes best practise and consistent product control.   

JACK CARNEY

VICE PRESIDENT

As Vice President of Thomas P Carney Inc. General Contractors, Jack has been instrumental in a long term growth strategy that has seen the company grow from $500,000 projects to projects between $50 and $200 million. The company recently celebrated its 60 year anniversary and is making plans for the next 40 years with the intent of celebrating a 100 year anniversary.

MARK LAVELLE

OEM SPECIALIST

Of his 20 year career in automotive industry, Mark has spent the last 11 years focused on the braking industry, focused primarily on the O.E. sector. Mark has committed himself to ensuring that aftermarket brakes meet the safety standards mandated by the Original equipment manufacturers.

Rick is the CEO or “Chief Energizing Officer” of ABS Friction, a company he co-founded in 1995. Guelph-based ABS Friction, a Canadian owned and operated family business is a leader in the automotive replacement industry, currently supplying to over 20 unique markets around the world.

As a manufacturer I have a responsibility. I am accountable to my customers to make the safest and most environmentally friendly products possible.

Scott has spent the last 12 years focused on the braking industry, specifically at the original equipment level.

With 15 years in the automotive business and the last 12 years in the braking industry, I bring experience from the installer level all the way to the manufacturing of brake pads.

TROY HYLTON

ENGINEERING DIRECTOR

Troy has spent 23 years in the automotive braking industry. He has focused on both aftermarket and OE brake product lines. He has been heavily involved in the development of NRS and Fineblank Plus technologies.
